ABOUT ME

I grew up with my grandparents planting a garden every spring.  Grandpa kept bees for honey and grandma canned the extra garden produce.  They had lots of chickens in the yard and I would go out and name each one as they walked by.  They would mingle and I would forget who I named what and start all over again. Sometimes those chickens would end up on the dinner plate.  It's what people did back then.  Now I get my fruit, vegetables and meat at the grocery store.  I do feel a little guilty about eating chicken nowadays after writing this story.  But it was good memories that lent themselves to a lot of the story setting, as well as living with my husband, Bob, in Wildomar for 26 years.  It's a little town in Southern California that still has a rural feel.  The properties that surround our house have a lot of animal activity that I have observed and listened to all that time.  One morning it occured to me to write a story.   A couple of years ago my daughter and I rescued a little abandoned chick in our front yard, as the mama hen had laid her clutch of eggs in the bushes in our front walkway.  The little chick became my main character and a lot of the other animals in the book are pets from past to present come to life in my imagination.  I've always enjoyed creative writing and the story soon developed enough for me to think about having it published.

My children are grown and some raising their own families now.  I was a girl scout leader for my girls for 11 years.  It was a fun time then but life and times are constantly changing.  I still work full time while my husband has recently retired.  We enjoy camping in our little vintage trailer with our friends.
